Kale Chips & Rolling

7 weeks later, I'm back! I'm telling you, I wish I had the momentum to write every day. But anyway...

Malachi just rolled over! He was on his birdie mat, the same birdie mat that saw both girls' first rolls as well...laying on his back, sucking his thumb like crazy. I was in the kitchen making eggs and avocado for Leah, and I heard him start to fuss. It was just a complainer fuss at first but it got louder and louder, so I went to check on him, and there he was on his tummy! I clapped and cheered while Leah wondered what the celebration was all about. I called Ricardo right away to tell him, and the first thing he asked was how old the girls were...and then with a note of pride noted that it WOULD be the boy to do it all early. Haha. For the record...he is 15 weeks, a week and half shy of turning 4 months.

Yesterday I went to TJ's to get groceries, and while I was there in the chip aisle, which I should never be allowed to go down and which I was only there to get Akmak crackers, I saw something called Nacho Kale Chips. They looked interesting enough that I reached for a bag and read the ingredients, and saw that they seemed pretty legit. So in the cart they went...

When I got home I opened them and tried one...and was so amazed at how delicious they were! They had the crunch of a chip that I so crave, and phenomenal flavor. They reminded me a lot of Sun Chips, garden salsa variety, which I love but never buy anymore. I thought that my family would be equally as thrilled, and gave Savannah one first. A few munches, and she announced she liked it. But somewhere between the first and second chip, things changed, and she wrinkled her nose and said now they tasted gross. ???

Up next was Ricardo, and again, I gave a sample and waited for excitement to ensue. To say there was a lack of positive feedback would be an understatement. He could not pinpoint WHY exactly he didn't like them, but he absolutely did not agree with me that they were good - or ALMOST as good - as chips.

Well, that was all last night. Today I took the little ones outside to play, and grabbed the kale chips to munch on while we were out there. Leah spied the bag right away.

"What's that!?"

"Look!" I said, infusing my voice with excitement. "They are green chips!"

"I want one," she said and proceeded to munch away. Two seconds later the little nose wrinkled up, much like here sister's had. "I not like it. I not like this GREEN chip. I want a different one. I want a
LELLOW chip!"

When I laughed and told her sorry, no yellow chips, just green chips, she decided they might taste better if she held the bag herself. She ate several bites and then gave it back. I can tell she is undecided, maybe a bit confused by them. She probably thinks they're good, but not quite in the same way that her beloved lellow chips are.
